Community Free Meals
Second Tuesday of this month is St Paul's Table of Plenty at St. Paul's Catholic Church of New Middletown from 5 p.m.to6:30 p.m.
Third Tuesday of this month join the people of Petersburg Presbyterian for Calvin's Table from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Fourth Tuesday of this month is Luther's Table at Zion Lutheran Church of New Middletown from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Zion Lutheran is reaching out to the community by offering a meal at no cost for people of the community. Our next meal is on Tuesday, March 27 at 5 p.m. Our goal is to provide companionship, fellowship, nutrition (physical or spiritual) and strengthening the bonds within our community.
On Thursday, March 29, at 7:30 p.m. we will begin our Triduum of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday as one service. The focus of Thursday is four part: making our Lenten Confession, the washing of feet, the celebration of Holy Communion which includes our Fifth grader and her family for the first time, and finally the stripping of the altar while Psalm 22 is read.
Stations of the Cross will be offered on Good Friday, March 30, at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship room in preparation for our second night of worship during the Triduum.
With our worship room stripped bare of all linens we will regather in silence at 7:30 p.m. and participate in our Good Friday Tenebrae where we experience through the liturgy the death of Jesus on the cross through the extinquishing of the candles on the altar. Again we will leave in silence.
HOLY SATURDAY- EASTER VIGIL
We regather in silence for the third of the three nights of the Triduum in the Fellowship Room as we strike the new fire the pascal light to symbolize the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 31, at 7:30 p.m.
The focus of this worship will be the four Older Testament readings, Affirmation of Baptism, and the celebration of Holy Communion.
We will regather as witnesses to the resurrection on Easter Sunday morning at 7:30 a.m. for our celebration of the resurrection of Christ.
At 8:30 a.m. we will offer our Easter breakfast. Sign up to help with Easter Breakfast. Helping hands are welcome at 6:00 a.m. Easter morning in the kitchen!
Sunday School Easter Egg Hunt and Easter Video
At 9 30 a.m. we will offer our Easter movie in the Worship room before sending the youth out for an Easter egg hunt and receiving Easter treat bags.
Our late Worship service at 10:45 a.m. will celebrate the resurrection with Word and Sacrament (Holy Communion).
On Wednesday, April 25, join us for our spring Healing Service at 7:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Room (upstairs). Our spring Healing Service is usually held during the fourth week of the Easter season when the reading are on the Good Shepherd.
Each Healing Service features singing of hymns and chants, reading of Scriptures, Prayers, Laying on of Hands and Anointing with Oil. Other elements of our Healing Ministry are Confession and Forgiveness as well as Holy Communion.
On Sunday, April 22, at 6:00 p.m.we will hold our second in our series ofCongregational Conversation. This time we will hear the results from the questionnaires prepared by Pastor Erin and distributed and answered by the participants. We will hear the positive results, reflect on our dreams together and develop some goals for our future together. We had a great response last time with 32 people being present; we hope we will get a similar response or even better.L
Worship Around the Cross
Our labyrinth walk will be up on Monday, April 9 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Use this time to use this prayer practice to deepen your sense of God’s presence.
We at Zion will begin to offer for our twenty something and thirty something folks in the Fellowship Room on First Thursday of each month. The next Worship Around the Cross will be held on Thursday,
April 5 at 7 p.m. This will be a relaxed style of worship offered on the First Thursday of each month (to begin with), using power points, You-Tube songs, chants, and the sermon will be in a conversational style in a circle with our large wooden cross making up our center. Holy Communion will be offered at each Worship Service.
Contemplative Prayer Group
Our Contemplative prayer group continues to meet on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. Our next prayer time will be on Thursday, April 12, at 7:00 p.m. we will pray using interior seeing as our base for prayer. On Thursday,April 26, at 7:00 p.m.common prayer is our base. We offer this time of prayer to allow us the space to come and be present for God in the silence.
PALM/ PASSION SUNDAY
Holy Week starts on Palm/Passion Sunday on March 25 with a Blessing of the Palms and the Palm procession. As part of our worship we will read the Passion narrative from St Mark's Gospel.
